Complete Coach Works Wins First Place in APTA’s 2025 Annual Ad Wheel Awards for Best Marketing and Communications to Increase Ridership or Sales

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW), a leading provider of transit and sustainable transportation solutions, proudly announces its first-place win at the prestigious 2025 Annual Ad Wheel Awards hosted by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).

The award-winning print media campaign was a multifaceted initiative that combined email outreach to CCW’s customers, publication in APTA’s Public Transport Magazine, and distribution via social media platforms. The campaign focused on CCW’s bus refurbishment expertise as a way to extend the useful life of buses and thereby improve service frequency and quality within US transit fleets. The campaign featured CORE Transit in Colorado who recently had buses refurbished by CCW.

CCW’s winning entry targeted transit industry professionals, decision-makers, and conference attendees in public transportation. Designed to highlight the company’s expertise in bus refurbishment, the campaign captivated audiences with its bold visuals, strategic messaging, and clear value proposition. Further, CCW displayed the bus showcased in the print media at the APTA Transform Conference in Anaheim, CA in September.

CCW rose to the challenge by presenting an eye-catching and informative print media advertisement that directed traffic to its refurbished bus display. Visitors were able to experience firsthand the company’s ability to extend the lifespan of transit vehicles at the vehicle display expo. The campaign’s success generated significant interest and engagement at the conference. Attendees flocked to the company’s booth, where meaningful connections were made.

CCW will receive the award during APTA’s annual Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Workshop, held from February 23-26 in Long Beach, CA. The Ad Wheel Awards celebrate excellence in marketing and communication efforts within the public transportation industry. The competition highlights campaigns that advance the industry’s visibility, innovation, and effectiveness in connecting with target audiences.

Looking for a fast, reliable solution to expand your fleet? Our flexible bus leasing options are designed to get you on the road—quickly and efficiently.

How to bridge the gap when buses are needed:

  • New Bus Delivery Delays: Waiting on new buses? Leasing fills the gap while you wait for delayed deliveries—so your service doesn’t have to slow down.
  • Route Expansion: Launching new routes? Add capacity quickly without the long-term commitment of purchasing new vehicles.
  • Seasonal Ridership: Dealing with seasonal surges? Leasing helps you scale your fleet temporarily to meet demand—without over-investing.
  • Zero Emission Transition Plans: Transitioning to zero-emission vehicles? Lease buses while you phase out older models or wait for EV infrastructure.
  • Maintenance Planning: Need time for major fleet maintenance or refurbishments? Keep operations running smoothly with short-term leased units.

Complete Coach Awarded Contract to Refurbish Thirteen Long Beach Transit 2015 New Flyer Xcelsior Articulated Buses

Complete Coach Awarded Contract to Refurbish Thirteen Long Beach Transit 2015 New Flyer Xcelsior Articulated Buses

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW), North America’s leading provider of transit bus and sustainable transportation solutions, is proud to announce the contract award for the midlife refurbishment of thirteen (13) Long Beach Transit (LBT) 2015 New Flyer Xcelsior, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) 60-foot buses. This project is part of Long Beach Transit’s State of Good Repair Program, designed to maintain the safety, efficiency, and reliability of its fleet.

This recent award is built on a long-standing partner relationship between the two organizations. CCW previously performed a mid-life rehabilitation for 72 Gillig buses under a contract awarded in 2019. That successful project demonstrates CCW’s commitment to assisting LBT in their mission to deploy the most reliable and efficient fleet for their customers.

The bus rehabilitation contract includes both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. The buses will be fitted with Cummins L9N CNG “Near Zero” engines, replacing the older Cummins ISL-G engines. These low-emission, fuel-efficient engines are part of LBT’s continued effort to provide a cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation system for the City of Long Beach and its surrounding areas. Additionally, each bus will include new aluminum wheels, updated exterior lighting and mirrors, a refurbished driver’s seat, reupholstered passenger seats, and articulation joint service. Further enhancements include the recertification of each bus’s Amerex fire suppression system.

The buses will further receive an interior and exterior paint job, complete with new decals, providing a refreshed look that reflects Long Beach Transit’s commitment to high-quality service.

“As these vehicles reach their mid-life points, the cosmetic, mechanical, and electrical restoration work will return them to like-new condition,” said James Carson, Regional Sales Manager of Complete Coach Works. “CCW provides high-quality refurbishing services, and we take pride in seeing our work reflected in the Long Beach Transit fleet.”

LBT, the second largest public transit agency in Los Angeles County, serves approximately 17 million annual boardings. The completion of this project will ensure the fleet remains efficient and reliable for the residents and visitors of Long Beach.

James added, “This has been a joint effort to bring more value to the city. The refurbishment of these buses will allow Long Beach Transit to continue on its path toward providing a cleaner and more sustainable and reliable transportation system for its community.”
